Brockton City Hall, Massachusetts (April 28, 2022) – Mayor of Brockton Robert Sullivan awarded the first round of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants to Educational Divide Reform (EDR) and 40 other nonprofit and faith-based organizations at the City Hall. 

The grant was awarded to a select number of organizations that qualified to meet the federal standards to receive the grant. In December, 2021, the United States Department of the Treasury established ARPA to provide grants to states and local governments for financial assistance due to COVID-19. The City of Brockton decided to allocate the first round of ARPA funds to nonprofit organizations and faith-based organizations in Brockton.  

EDR was awarded $50,000, which will be utilized to expand support for Brockton students and education services in Brockton communities. 

“Assisting these nonprofit and faith-based organizations with these once-in-a-lifetime funds is the first of many acts the Mayor has planned to greatly benefit residents of the City,” said ARPA Project Manager Dan Pallota.

“The local non-profit agencies and faith-based organizations are the heart of our City, providing services and support to all of our residents, especially the most vulnerable members of our society,” said Sullivan. “The COVID-19 pandemic greatly and negatively impacted these organizations and the services they provide. These funds being disbursed through our ARPA grant program will assist these agencies, helping them recover from the pandemic and continue providing essential services in Brockton.”

Educational Divide Reform
Educational Divide Reform Institute (EDR) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization aiming to contribute to human development and social inclusion through youth education. EDR works with underserved communities that face educational inequality due to economic, digital, cultural and English language barriers.
